Announcing the Small Cinema Owners Association (SCO)

Welcome to our first newsletter.  The objective of SCO is to improve the conditions for smaller cinemas owners so they can better service their communities. My name is James Gardiner, the founding creator of SCO. I have worked in the industry for over 25 years and, as the CineTechGeek, have delivered industry news via my YouTube channel since 2010. In this newsletter I bring you highlights from CinemaCon 2019.

I was fortunate to speak to many people at CinemaCon and recorded several interviews. I encourage you to look over the titles of the topics at CineTechGeek.  I would particularly like to draw your attention to the interview with David Hancock, President at European Digital Cinema Forum (EDCF).  As the Virtual Print Fee (VPF) in Australia are only months from ending, we should expect the changes David predicts in the video below.

The main take away from the video is that as the VPFs end, any argument for limited or restricted access to content will no longer exist.

Finally I would like to mention that SCO has also been working on other projects to help with running your small cinema.  In the coming weeks we will announce a new tool and other initiatives to improve conditions for small cinema owners.  Stay tuned.
